Job Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to perform all types of accounting related functions, such as accounts payable, analyzing financials, preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger account schedules, and assisting with special projects. The candidate must also be motivated to work independently, yet collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions according to established accounting policies, procedures, and classifications.
- Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Assist with the creation, updating and maintenance of annual financial budgets and forecasts.
- Preparing and posting pertinent information and charges to work orders.
- Maintaining accurate inventory accounting records.
- Analysis monthly actual to budget variances and prepare report detailing significant variances for department managers.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Exceptional working knowledge of accounting principles and general business operations.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, and knowledge of varies accounting software a plus.
- Skill in problem solving, locating and correction of discrepancies in data, prioritizing and completing multiple projects.
- Ability to prepare and present financial information in a professional manner.
- Good verbal, listening and written communication skills.
- Ability to function as a team player.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with Company information.
- Ability to demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business is preferred.
- Three or more years of related experience is preferred. Understanding telecommunications accounting a plus.
Working Conditions: Work in office settings, spending much of their time at a desk using computer software for tasks like data analysis and financial reporting. Periods of high activity, such as month-end or year-end closings, may require longer hours to meet deadlines.
Pay Range: $25.00 - $32.50 per hour depending on experience.
