Senior Estimator - Commercial Construction (5+ years experience)

Our Commercial Construction division is hiring an Estimator responsible for calculating all aspects of commercial projects. Our Estimator also assists in coordinating pre-construction work including soliciting subcontractor proposals and arranging site visits. The pre-construction team aims to ensure a project’s success through rigorous estimating and effective communication between many stakeholders involved in our projects.
As our Estimator, you will be expected to:
- Develop construction estimates and perform material take-offs utilizing estimating software and cloud-based tools.
- Work on multiple projects concurrently to reliably deliver projects to specified deadlines.
- Communicate effectively over phone, email, and in-person with our team as well as clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
- Solicit bids from our trade partners, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist the Director of Commercial Construction in developing accurate preconstruction and project schedules and proposals.
- Develop conceptual estimates based on conceptual drawing sets.
- Record, analyze, and use historical data to improve the quality of estimates.
- Ensure that estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review.
- Present estimates during client meetings and field client questions
- Schedule milestone meetings with internal project teams and work with project managers and superintendents to hand off projects from estimating to project management once contracted .
- Expand subcontractor network locally and in remote locations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years experience as an estimator
- A minimum of 7 years experience in the A/E/C industry - commercial construction experience preferred
- Track record of estimating commercial projects up to $15M
- In-depth knowledge of ProCore or similar Construction Management Software
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to quickly and accurately perform quantity take-offs from drawing sets
- A deep understanding of commercial construction methods and practices
- In-depth knowledge of construction drawings including MEP, civil, structural
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- An analytical approach and keen attention to detail
- Familiarity with different contract structures and delivery methods
- An ability and desire to work as part of a team
