Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in management of shipping department by identifying work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedite workflow
- Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures and customer request
- Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers
- Ensure shipment orders are correct
- Monitor productivity
- Assist employees with work process problems
- Use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders
- Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading, etc.
- Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment
- Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders
- Supervise and lead subordinates
- Monitor and control budget of the shipping department
- Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other departments and managers to optimize processes
- Resolve issues regarding shipped orders
- Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies
- Report to management on activities and issues
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly and/or indirectly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
