The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.
Position Summary:
The Senior Instructor will provide integrated clinical care to incarcerated inmates within the Colorado Department of Corrections. The Senior Instructor will report to and work out of Colorado Department of Corrections sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with integrated care team that includes mental and physical health professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to provide seamless continuum of care at Colorado Department of Corrections.
- Collaborate with other members of the team, and evaluate their diagnosis and treatment protocols upon request to ensure the best in patient care
- Provide consultation to integrated care team members to help diagnosis, assess and treat complex behavioral health conditions in an inpatient corrections facility.
- Provide input in the creation of individual patient treatment plans that incorporate multiple treatment methodologies, and make adjustments as needed for enhanced patient response.
- Diagnose mental health conditions based on patient health history, discussions with the patient and information provided from relatives and other health professionals
- Assess patients and prescribe pharmaceutical interventions, as appropriate, on an ongoing basis for treatment of behavioral, emotional or mental disorders
- Recommend diagnostic and laboratory tests on patients to learn additional information about their physical and/or mental health, as well as their improvement over time
- Discuss treatment protocols and diagnoses with patient caregivers, and advise as appropriate
Salary and Benefits:
Senior Instructor: The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $223,000
This represents the 25-50 percentile of the salary range which is reflective of a candidate with 1-7 years of experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD/DO, CO Physician License or Eligible for CO Physician License
- Board Eligible or Certified in Psychiatry
- Proficiency in telepsychiatry
