WORK SCHEDULE This is a part time position with working hours to be assigned at the discretion of the Recreation and Community Services Department. Applicants must be available to work flexible hours, which may include mornings, afternoons and occasional weekends. THE POSITIONUnder the direction of the Aquatics Manager, this position will assist in the supervision and management of the general operation of the aquatics division, while performing responsibilities of a lifeguard. The incumbent will assist in supervision and scheduling of lifeguards and other pool employees; will assist in supervising swim classes and may conduct all levels of swimming classes; assist in conducting and participating in various training sessions; administer First Aid, CPR and perform lifesaving activities. The Head Lifeguard also makes reports on attendance and the activities of the swimming pool; and maintains program equipment, files, and records.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of professional lifesaving standards.Must possess the physical strength, endurance, and agility necessary to perform First Aid, CPR, and other related lifesaving activities.Ability to actively perform safety duties; the safeguarding of individuals, public and property.Ability to effectively interact with City staff, volunteers and the public; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instruction utilizing the English language.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
