PLANNING
a. Develop and interpret attainable goals and objectives.
b. Define and interpret the philosophy of nursing care compatible with the philosophy of the institution.
c. Study future needs and priorities.
d. Define and interpret policies, procedures and performance standards which ensure safe and therapeutic effective nursing care and provide for participation of staff members in revising standards of care.
DUTIES
1. Plan and provide the mechanism for implementation and/or coordination if nursing programs to meet the needs of:
a. The nursing staff including professional student nurses, nursing personnel assigned by New York Medical College, assigned to special project by the Health and Hospital Corporation, assigned by governmental agencies such as Youth Corps, etc. and volunteer workers.
2. In cooperative relationship with Nursing Department, plan direct, and coordinate, orientation, education and development programs for all categories of nursing personnel.
3. Initiate, promote, stimulate and/or collaborate in studies and/or research in nursing care, utilize applicable findings for the purpose of improving nursing administrative practice and nursing care.
ORGANIZING
a. Establish relations and channels of easy communication that objectives are reached without unnecessary obstruction. Define or interpret channel, of authority and responsibility.
b. Determine a staff plan that will accomplish objectives, standards of nursing service, and promotes maximum utilization of personnel.
c. Determine and recommend nursing equipment and/or the supplies necessary to implement objectives.
DUTIES
- In cooperative relationship with the professional nursing staff develop nursing policy
- and procedure manuals, standards of care, informational material for staff education, patient and/or the community.
- Maintain a system or records and recording, reports and reporting to provide effective communication, service, control, and measurement of the total program outcome.
- Participate in reviewing and revising the personnel policies and procedures for recruitment of personnel.
MOTIVATING
a. Providing a working climate so employees will want to work as requested and/or directed.
b. Educate leader to their responsibilities and set yearly objectives for their servants.
DUTIES
a. Use every possible mean and/or resource to provide and maintain satisfactory work conditions and relationships conductive to job satisfaction.
b. In a cooperative relations ship motivate the staff in assisting with orientation to area of new physician and medical students.
c. Maintain awareness for keeping area and equipment in good working condition and if needed, repair; a system for communicating and/or requesting is done.
d. Motivate the staff into maintain positive relationship the medical staff, other department, profession groups and the community.
ACCOUNTABILITY
a. Assess and evaluate the quality of care.
b. Identify and analyze trends, issues and problems
c. Measure productivity and make necessary corrections
d. Maintain work knowledge in the area of labor relations
DUTIES
a. Provide professional nursing supervision on a cooperative consultative relationship with nursing staff, medical and paramedical personnel, individually or in groups regarding patient, families or community: special programs or problems.
b. Evaluate quality and productivity of the service through analysis of statistics report and studies. Evaluate nursing care for the purpose of identifying achievements and to provide time limit for forecasting and planning.
c. Assess and evaluate Assistant Director of Nursing. Performance and their recognition of their role in providing quality nursing care.
ADMINISTRATING
a. Interpret hospital policies to Nursing and Non-Nursing Staff.
b. Assume responsibility administratively.
