Job Overview:
Join our team as a UWCHLAN TOWNSHIP PARKS WORKER and contribute to the maintenance and beautification of our community parks. As a Parks Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our parks are well-maintained, safe, and enjoyable for all visitors. Uwchlan Township is currently accepting applications for the position of Parks Worker. The qualified applicant will be expected to perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and operation of park and recreation buildings, grounds, open spaces and parks.
THE QUALIFIED APPLICANT SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
· A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
· Requires at least two (2) years of closely related experience.
· Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and the ability to travel
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to obtain a CDL license
· Must have considerable knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground maintenance.
· Ability to use equipment including, but not limited to tractors, snow plow trucks, skid steerers, zero-turn mowers, back hoe, road banker.
· Ability to assist in the construction of new park facilities, including clearing, grading, drainage and foundation work, painting, minor plumbing and carpentry, demolition of old park facilities and assist in the construction of swales, berms and other storm water facilities.
· Ability to mow and maintain parks and open space areas such as baseball and soccer fields, clean and maintain tennis courts and nets, maintain sprinkler systems and assists in the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads.
· Ability to set up parks and open space for recreation program use including but not limited to setting up and breaking down recreation equipment, installation of goal posts and nets, lining of fields for sports use.
· Ability to plant lawns, trees shrubs, flower and care for specialized turf.
· Knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs, mechanical repair, welding and fabrication of steel and aluminum.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, and devise solutions to immediate problems without much time for consideration, with or without supervision.
· Ability to maintain a good working relationship with the general public and Township officials.
· Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
· Skills in operating a personal computer with a general understanding of word processing.
PHSYICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to work both inside and outside the normal office setting.
· Ability to have hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
· Ability to walk, sit, talk, and hear.
· Ability to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
· Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
· Ability to work in outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, frigid or hot temperatures, environments with airborne particles, and extremely noisy environments.
