Medical Billing Specialist
Looking for an experienced revenue cycle professional who wants to make a difference for healthcare providers and patients. You must be smart, analytical, energetic, positive, a quick learner, and focused with an eye for detail. You must have experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, and have a working understanding of electronic claims & remittances, the ability to troubleshoot EDI enrollment issues, a thorough understanding of line-item accounting and patient ledger debit/credit entries. You should have an in-depth understanding of compliance requirements for HIPAA privacy and security rules and OIG compliance standards. You must be available to work Monday-Friday in our downtown Peterborough, NH, office.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyze and review claims for accuracy, completeness and eligibility
- Analyze and review patient ledgers and claim adjudications for appeal
- Determine best course of action to achieve payment of overdue claims
- Write and file appeals with insurance carriers
- Manage electronic documents
- Answer & resolve patient, insurance, and provider phone calls
- Contribute suggestions on improving operations
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
- At least 4 years’ experience as a medical biller or billing specialist
- College degree or equivalent professional work experience
- High proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- General understanding of automation and interoperability of different systems
- Ability to thrive in a small office
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be willing to sign a confidentiality and Protected Health Information agreement
- Must pass a criminal record background check
- Experience with HealthPac HPlusPro software is a plus
- Clinical or EMS experience is a plus
