Dermatology Specialists is recruiting for an experienced full-time dermatology Histotechnologist to join our practice and work in our Louisville pathology lab which is located in our Louisville location at 1056 S 88th St Louisville, CO 80027. This position would be 5 days a week with a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities include performing all duties and responsibilities of a Hisotechinican and supporting the Dermatopathologist. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a great team player and passionate about patient care and finding purpose in your work. Must have the greatest respect for colleagues, co-workers and patients. Must have a high level of proficiency at Windows based computer programs and Electronic Medical Records.

Essential Functions:
- Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures.
- Capable of performing all duties/responsibilities of a Histotechnician.
- Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
- Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
- Ensure proper tissue in paraffin.
- Perform microtomy of embedded tissue.
- Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
- Perform cover slipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures.
- Obtain and validate tissue used in special stains.
- Perform all special stain procedures.
- May prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures.
- May obtain and validate control material used in IHC procedures.
- May perform IHC testing.
- Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures. Document remedial actions such as repairs or repeated tests.
- Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
- Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal and CLIA regulations.
Education:
- Associate’s degree or higher in a laboratory science or histotechnology/medical laboratory technology
Skills/Experience:
- 1-3 years experience as a dermpath Histotechnician
- Mod Med (EMA) experience is a plus
- Word processing and computer experience
- Experience in dermatology
- Ability to stay focused under stressful conditions
- Ability to receive constructive feedback
- Respond to unexpected change without loss of motivation
- Self-discipline
- Must have good motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Must be organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently and as a team
