Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Research/Data Assistant for the County's Department of Human Service Child Welfare Division to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Research and Data Entry with Child Welfare Experience.
This position provides administrative and personal support to a high-level manager. Work may be confidential and sensitive in nature … involving decision-making, judgment and tact.
Essential Functions:
- Resolves administrative problems that would not typically require the supervisor's involvement.
- Compiles information for various reports, spreadsheets, projects, briefings and conferences. Secures signatures and approvals if needed.
- Enters data accurately and timely into multiple databases.
Goals:
Clean up data in local databases to reduce errors
Implement new system to improve record keeping and data entry
Data is entered accurately and timely (per policy)
Specific Tasks:
- Type in data provided directly from social workers
- Enter data onto spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes
- Verify data by comparing it to source documents and subject matter experts
- Update existing data
- Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
- Maintain sensitive, confidential files and records
- Research root causes of data integrity issues
- Escalating complex issues to coach, team leader or supervisor for assistance in order to maintain focus and momentum.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to navigate the internet for research purposes
- Strong data entry skills with intermediate to advanced use of MS Office products such as Word and Excel
- Exemplary organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail and follow-up; must be able to meet strict deadlines and multi-task
- Positive, flexible, patient ability to work well with various individuals, departments, and customers
- Ability to collaborate closely with other team members
- Ability to weigh options, foresee consequences, and employ good judgment.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to multiple changes in process.
- Experience working in health, human, or social service fields (prefer experience in Child Welfare)
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $17.59 - $23.75 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
