Position: Electronics Engineering Technician
Seeking a fulltime Electronics Engineering Technician with five years experience to assist in the development of new products for use in the seismic industry. Experience or interest in mixed-signal circuit design is required. Working within a small group, the successful candidate will be exposed to all facets of new product development, from conceptualization, all the way to production and beyond. Goals will be keeping costs low while designing for longevity. Day to day activities will vary but could involve assisting in analog and digital circuit design, text fixture design, test fixture software development, sustaining existing products, updating existing products, building prototypes, troubleshooting existing and protype PCB assemblies, identifying alternate electronic components, supporting other in-house groups, supporting manufacturing, designing and testing Li-Ion battery packs, battery charger design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and the list goes on.
Requirements
· Two or four year Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or similar degree
· General experience or interest in new product design preferred, including improving and manufacturing of new and existing products, low power, low cost
· Mixed-signal experience preferred
· Experience with Altium Designer for schematic and PCB viewing, schematic capture and PCB layout a plus
· Experience or interest in micro-processors (MPUs) and micro-controllers (MCUs), ADCs, DACs, power circuits, sensors, analog switches, MOSFETs, Operational Amplifiers (op-amps), accelerometers, FPGAs etc.
· Ability to work with CM (contract manufacturer) in PCB assembly, assisting working new designs into production, resolving test fixture issues, etc.
· PCB test fixture experience or interest in would be a plus
· Ability to troubleshoot electronics at the component level, and to solder and to replace defective electronic components (microBGA repair a big plus)
· Knowledge and ability to use standard test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies, etc.)
· Ability to plan and carry out various testing and to document results completely and accurately
· Embedded programming experience would be a plus
· Experience or knowledge of various serial protocols would be useful (SPI, I2C, RS-232/UART, USB, Bluetooth, etc.)
· GNSS/GPS experience or knowledge would be useful
· Experience with Li-Ion (lithium ion) batteries would be useful, including fuel gauges, charging, characterizing, etc.
· SPICE or other simulation experience or interest would be useful
· Experience with C, C++, C#, or Python a plus
