PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Increase Profit and Revenue: Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department, including staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
- Sustain Excellent Quality of Service: Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department.
- Develop Organizational Structure: Ensure excellent customer service and employee satisfaction. Analyze and document business processes and problems. Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies, coordinate and implement solutions from process analysis and general department projects. Responsible for meeting department productivity and quality goals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Examine and possibly delay dangerous goods shipments if packaging does not meet IATA regulations. If documentation is inadequate or incorrect, return shipment to sender for repackaging.
- Customer Requirements: Ensure all special customer requirements and needs are met. Monitor all customer communications and respond when necessary. Recommend the best method of transport (rail, air, or ocean).
- Problem Solving: Solve problems with shipment (e.g., canceled bookings, airline delays, lack of space on the carrier, and damaged freight).
- Report Preparation: Prepare miscellaneous reports (e.g., profit report, cargo damage report, and ISO).
- Business Development: Take initiative in developing new methods to increase business.
- Regulation Enforcement: Ensure compliance with all regulations. Supervise enforcement of TSA (IACSSP, CCSP), FAA, C-TPAT security measures, and DOT requirements.
- Carrier Selection: Select the most cost-effective carrier for direct shipments and consolidation shipments. Seek the best airline/ocean carrier rates.
- Document Verification: Verify the accuracy of all shipping instructions and documents (e.g., verifying the number of pieces being shipped versus the count number on the airway bill).
- Shipment Examination: Examine and possibly delay dangerous goods shipments if packaging does not meet FMC & IMDG regulations. Return shipment to sender for repackaging if documentation is inadequate or incorrect.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Basic English reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of office processes, procedures, and technology. Experience in supervising team activities.
- Ability to read and interpret accounting and financial reports.
- Three to five years of office experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills.
