Since 1965, Capstone Community Action has supported individuals and families in Central Vermont in achieving economic and housing stability and rising out of poverty. Capstone’s early childhood education and family services are central to its mission, offering center-based and home-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs that support positive child, family, and community outcomes that use a whole-child approach and actively engage parents as partners in their children’s early learning and development.
Position: Capstone’s Head Start programs support young children and families with high-quality, comprehensive, progressive services, and staff work together to provide these services in a positive, team environment, with exceptional training and professional development opportunities.
Capstone is currently seeking an Associate Education Manager to join the Head Start team. Working with the Education Manager to oversee and support all Head Start and Early Head Start programming, the Associate Education Manager ensures that early education services are provided in accordance with Head Start Program Standards. With responsibilities to support direct service staff and programming through service planning; home visit, classroom, and center observations; ongoing monitoring; and data analysis, the Associate Education Manager is an important resource to staff and is integral to the provision of high-quality services to children and families.
Qualifications: The Associate Education Manager is required to hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, or a comparable combination of equivalent coursework in early childhood education and early childhood teaching experience. Candidates should also have experience working in a Head Start program, human services, or community-based services, with experience in service provision to people with low incomes preferred.

- Commitment to Head Start philosophy, goals, and program standards.
- Excellent organizational, early education service planning, and documentation skills.
- Ability to plan, lead, and adapt activities to meet training needs of adult learners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to utilize various databases.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop supportive, professional relationships with staff, managers, families, and community partners.
- Understanding of and positive regard for people with low incomes and accessing income-based services.
Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a 40-hour per week standard schedule and competitive pay at $27.00 – $29.87 per hour.
