Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead two distinct but physically connected concepts, Betty’s Pizza & Pasta and Kettlestrings Grove cocktail lounge in Oak Park, Illinois. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in bartending and restaurant management, along with required certifications. This role requires a hands-on leader who can oversee all aspects of the establishments, ensuring exceptional service, operational efficiency, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff, including bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, and support personnel, including shift and location managers.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the restaurant and bar, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Implement and maintain high standards for food and beverage quality, service, and health & safety.
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
- Customer Experience:
- Ensure a welcoming atmosphere and excellent customer service.
- Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Monitor and respond to customer feedback to continuously improve service.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets, including sales targets and cost controls.
- Monitor financial performance and prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Implement strategies to increase revenue and control costs.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all state and local health and safety regulations.
- Maintain all necessary certifications, including Illinois Food Manager Certification and BASSET Certification.
- Ensure all staff adhere to licensing laws and regulations.
- Marketing & Community Engagement:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract and retain customers.
- Engage with the local community and build relationships to enhance the establishment's reputation.
- Plan and oversee special events, promotions, and partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Must hold Illinois Food Manager Certification.
- Must hold BASSET Certification (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in restaurant and bar management.
- Proven experience in bartending and a strong understanding of mixology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team.
- Culinary experience preferred, including:
- Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation processes.
- Ability to collaborate with kitchen staff to develop and enhance menu offerings.
- Experience in managing food costs and maintaining high culinary standards.
- Skills:

- Proficient in financial management and budgeting.

- Additional Requirements:
