COMPENSATION: $800-$900 weekly (less applicable tax withholdings)
BENEFITS (SUMMER ONLY): three meals a day, free access to classes, performances, talks, and studio usage.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Retail Sales Manager at Jacob's Pillow plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience for our patrons. This position involves managing a range of products related to dance, the arts, and cultural experiences. Key responsibilities include overseeing both the physical and online retail store operations, the latter currently operated through Shopify. During the Festival, the Retail Sales Manager coordinates all retail activities, manages the online store, and is responsible for inventory management, setting up and resetting the store layout, hiring Retail Sales Associates, and conducting daily and weekly sales reporting to the Finance Department. Additionally, this role requires close collaboration with the Director of Patron Services, the Marketing Department, the Patron Services Team, and the Business Office to develop merchandise strategies and ensure efficient systems for fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Operations and Online Store Management:
Coordinate all retail operations, both on-site and online, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for patrons.
Manage the online store using Shopify, including product listings, inventory updates, and order fulfillment.
Ensure that both physical and online stores are well-organized, user-friendly, and well-maintained.
Participate as needed in the seasonal opening and closing of the festival’s performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.
Sales and Customer Service:
Lead a team of retail associates for both the physical and online stores, providing coaching and guidance to ensure exceptional customer service.
Set sales targets and develop strategies to achieve them for both retail channels, maximizing revenue and profitability.
Actively engage with customers, whether in-person or online, to provide product information, answer questions, and resolve any issues or concerns.
Monitor the shop@jacobspillow email to ensure excellent customer service and timely responsiveness.
Staff Management:
Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of Retail Sales Associates.
Create work schedules, monitor staff performance, and conduct regular evaluations for both on-site and online sales teams.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Merchandising and Procurement:
Collaborate with vendors, the Director of Patron Services, the Jacob’s Pillow assigned buyer, and various suppliers to source and select products that align with Jacob's Pillow's mission and brand, ensuring product offerings are available both on-site and online.
Analyze sales trends and customer feedback to make informed decisions about product selection and pricing for both retail channels.
Monitor the performance of various product categories and make adjustments as necessary.
Marketing and Promotions:
Develop and implement marketing strategies to drive traffic to both the on-site and online retail stores.
Execute promotional campaigns for both channels, including sales, discounts, and special events.
Utilize social media and other marketing channels to raise awareness of both retail stores.

Office setting: including sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
Ability to lift 25 lbs, climb stairs unassisted, and repeatedly perform these tasks as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous retail management and/or customer service experience required.
Database and point of sale systems experience preferred.
Inventory management desired.
Facility with g-suite, spreadsheet management, and general reporting as it applies to retail store.
Ability to work collaboratively and calmly under pressure.
Interest in dance and the arts.
Previous CPR/First Aid certifications are a plus; Jacob’s Pillow will provide additional certification training.
