MARINE MECHANIC is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repair of all ship’s systems aboard two 100 plus foot charter vessels.
MARINE MECHANIC DUTIES
· Has detailed working knowledge of all ship’s systems and their proper maintenance: gangways, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, water (potable, raw, black, and gray), HVAC, fire suppression, communications, and navigation
· Able to diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions, recommend proper remedies, and execute or direct repair of most vessel mechanical and electrical systems.
· Schedule and execute preventive maintenance program on daily, weekly and monthly basis with the support of captains and management.
· Recognize the need for and oversee or execute cleaning, painting, and maintenance.
· Responsible for overall upkeep of the vessel and maintenance resources.
· Fully able to execute diesel engine maintenance and repairs, oil changes/fuel filters/raw water impellers and pumps, starters, sea strainers, etc.
· Maintain necessary tools, filters, and replacement parts on hand as needed.
· Follow regulatory and company safety and pollution prevention policies and procedures.
· Oversee or assist preparing the vessel for all USCG annual inspections and dry docks.
· Attend and successfully complete shore side training as required by the company.
· Maintain a professional demeanor and respond to questions from the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
· Possess thorough knowledge of all company policies, procedures and Emergency Response Activities.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
MARINE MECHANIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Must pass random drug testing in accordance with Title 46 CFR 16.210.
· Must possess or obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card).
· Must be available outside of regularly scheduled work hours when needed.
· Must be fluent in English language, including the ability to read and write.
· Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent, and completed credible postsecondary training in technical and mechanical subjects related to marine engineering.
· Ability to collect and analyze data, define problems, and draw valid conclusions.
· Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to own vehicle.
