Job Purpose/Scope:
The Service Writer is responsible for enhancing workforce productivity and quality by planning and coordinating labor, parts, materials, tools, equipment, permits, documentation, and equipment access. This role is essential in eliminating potential delays and ensuring efficient workflow in our shop.
Key Responsibilities:
Work Order Management
- Initiate and review all work orders, ensuring they are properly filled out with required information.
- Determine the scope and best way to accomplish each work order, identifying and confirming necessary parts.
- Prioritize safety in work planning and scheduling, coordinating safety training with the Safety Director.
- Review Work In Progress (WIP) daily, ensuring proper workflow and timely communication with customers.
- Respond promptly to phone calls, messages, and emails from internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with the Shop Foreman to prioritize work and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure worksite cleanliness by logging cleanup time for Mechanics.
- Ensure completed work orders are filled out properly by Mechanics and reviewed by the Service Manager.
- Work with the parts department to order necessary parts and ensure proper allocation.
- Perform post-job reviews to assess work quality and communicate necessary changes.
Analysis and Diagnosis of Equipment Repairs
- Evaluate and determine equipment problems, coordinating timely and cost-effective repairs.
- Collaborate with the Shop Foreman to complete repairs efficiently.
- Audit work completed by technicians and evaluate their productivity.
Customer Relations/Communication
- Communicate with customers and internal staff to diagnose equipment issues and guide appropriate repairs.
- Keep customers updated on repair status and costs.
- Ensure all repairs are addressed properly and timely, in collaboration with the Shop Foreman and Service Manager team.
Experience & Educational Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in agricultural, construction, or diesel equipment-related work.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent people skills and strong written and oral communication abilities.
- Ability to present ideas professionally to various levels of management and employees.
- Proficient in general mathematical calculations.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Outstanding troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair determination skills.
- Working knowledge of repair procedures.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
