Camp Counselor
Seasonal/Summer Position
Camp Dates: July 8th – August 16th
Easterseals Massachusetts is seeking Camp Counselor to lead camp activities and groups for the 2024 Camp Programming at Easterseals MA @ The Bridge Center.

The Bridge Center is a fully accessible, 22-acre campus offering year-round recreation, camp, and equine-assisted programs for individuals with disabilities. All programs are instructed by skilled staff and are designed to meet the social, emotional, and physical goals of participants. Through innovative programming, The Bridge Center encourages independence and helps participants build important life skills. The Bridge Center campus consists of numerous outdoor fields, a beautiful pond, an equestrian center, a splash pad, multiple buildings for activities and events, and more.
General Job Responsibilities:

Assist campers requiring support in navigating the camp day.

Assist campers in accessing their assistive technology, adaptive equipment and augmentative communication devices and ensure the equipment is ready for the camper’s use.

Provide support to campers with disabilities including activities of daily living and facilitating social interactions with peers and staff.

Consistently communicate with counselors, leaders, parents and caregivers regarding camper’s daily experiences, including but not limited to illness, injury, behavioral episodes, etc.

Utilize and implement visual schedules, communication boards, behavior supports plans, and other pertinent strategies to assist campers throughout their activities.

Enforce rules, regulations, and policies to assure the safety of all campers in attendance.

Complete daily paperwork regarding camper’s camp day experience for management, guardians and other service providers.

Under close supervision, assist with transferring campers in and out of adaptive equipment including but not limited to wheelchairs; and assist campers with navigating TBC’s campus safely.

Follow all safety protocols, demonstrating and modeling safe work behavior while utilizing proper body mechanics.

Encourage campers independence in all phases of their activities.

Establish good rapport and build relationships with fellow ESMA staff, campers, caregivers and other professionals.
Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age.

Ability and desire to work with persons of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds in an active environment that fosters independence.

Knowledge of the needs of campers who have behavioral, learning, and/or physical disabilities. (preferred)

Experience providing personal care to youth and/or adults with disabilities. (preferred)
