Basic Function: This advocacy/multimedia writer develops a variety of content for member hospitals, lawmakers, media and the public related to THA’s advocacy issues/priorities and strategic objectives. This includes written print and digital content such as email newsletter and website articles, explainer handouts, advocacy reports, and multimedia pieces such as advocacy videos. Stays abreast of health care issues and THA policy positions to develop clear communication materials to keep member hospitals informed. Works as part of the association’s communications and advocacy/government relations teams. Maintains administration, oversight and troubleshooting of basic technological aspects of advocacy communications, including the department’s email platform and ongoing maintenance of website interfaces/systems that the advocacy communications department uses to connect with outside vendors/companies.
Qualifications:
Must have valid Texas Driver’s License and proof of insurance if driving for THA-related business. Up to 5% travel may be required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Requires 1-3 years’ experience in writing clearly and effectively for a variety of audiences on complex policy topics.
Legislative or health care policy experience, and/or a thorough knowledge of a variety of health care policy issues, is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have clear, coherent writing abilities and knowledge of AP style.
Must have knowledge of digital platforms, including social media and website development.
Must possess demonstrated proficiency and application knowledge of the latest version of Microsoft Office Professional Suite.
Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal;
Must maintain a professional, mature demeanor and be proficient at working with diverse personalities across all levels of the organization.
Position involves hybrid in-person and work-from-home work model.
