Olam Jewish Montessori was founded as the first Jewish Montessori preschool of Orange County, CA. Olam Jewish Montessori is currently seeking a well-organized, and detail-oriented, Assistant Director.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the ECE Director, the Assistant Director will be responsible for supporting the day to day administrative tasks vital to operating the center. The Assistant Director will assist the Director in ensuring the development and safety of the children and staff in accordance with school policies and procedures. The Assistant Director assumes administrative responsibility over the center and will act in place of the Director in their absence.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

- Promote and support the attitudes, behaviors, knowledge and skills necessary to work respectfully and effectively with each other as well as demonstrate the ability to address the needs of the children and families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review curriculum to ensure that all objectives are in accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Olam.
- Act as a support to teachers in planning and implementing activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program through the creation of lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and in line with the Montessori philosophy of the center.
- Promote STEAM and enrichment activities at school.
- Support teachers in the completion of Montessori Transparent Classroom Assessment and classroom setups.
- Act as a mentor/model to other teachers while working together with them in the classroom environment.
- Ensure equipment and the facility is clean, well maintained and safe.
- Act in the capacity of Center Administrator whenever the Director is unable to be present at the center.
- Assist in the recruitment and enrollment process for children and families.
- In collaboration with Director, plan staff meetings, parent education events, PTO, family events and written communication with families.
- Ensure that all children and staff have accurate and complete files present at the facility.
- Participate in the hiring process of new staff.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION:
- When acting in the capacity of Director the Assistant Director will maintain administrative responsibility for the day to day administration of the whole program and report to the Director.
- Maintain compliance with Title 22 regulations, including requirements to report unusual incidents to Community Care Licensing.
- Supervise, coach and encourage staff daily and provide regular feedback regarding their development.
- Immediately take action when there is concern for the safety or well-being of children, families or staff regardless of program area, and report said concern as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
- Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Maintain Client/Child records in accordance with Community Care Licensing
- Ability to create and maintain all compliance documents for the Community Care Licensing
- Develop and maintain a filing system
- Update and maintain office policies and procedures
- Order office supplies and research new suppliers
- Maintain parent contact lists
- Submit and reconcile expense reports
- Provide general support to parents, tours and new parents
- Keep accurate records regarding parent sign-in sheets, class rosters, student progress, early and extended care, enrichment activities and office areas stocked and organized with supplies
- Ability to create and maintain all compliance documents for the Community Care Licensing
- Coordinate campus tours with teaching staff and visitors
- A Plus: Proficiency in Google Docs & Sheets, graphic design for flyers and webpage
- A Plus: Social Media Savvy
- Utilization of Olam Admin email
- Aid in Payroll Submission
- Aid in on-boarding and off-boarding process for employees
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 12 ECE units.
- Must complete 3 units of Administration within 1 year of position start date.
- Meet Title 22 regulations for a fully qualified teacher including: completion of the 9 core units, 3 units in infant/toddler preferred.
- 1 year experience as a supervisor in an early childhood setting.
- Bonus: that the Assistant Director will have successfully completed Montessori certification and educational requirements.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to form positive relationships with parents and staff members.
- An understanding of current issues and trends in ECE.
- Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and technology.
- Ability to adapt to change, be flexible, team-oriented and possess a positive attitude.
- Ability to deal with confidential information and act accordingly.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
