Chief Engineer/Engineering Manager
Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager, is responsible for implementing the preventative maintenance and energy conservation programs and supervising staff, as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Routinely follow guidelines and procedures established for the Preventative Maintenance and Energy Conservation Programs.
- Troubleshoot all operational problems including, but not limited to equipment and building trades.
- Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
- Apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of unstandardized intellectual and practical problems in order to perform and direct many varied and complex tasks.
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Supervise, direct, coordinate staff in order to maintain service standards of the hotel.
- Establish work assignments and priorities.
- Supervise employees in the execution of their duties.
- Interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly interaction with supervisor, subordinates, coworkers and guests in completing assignments, resolving staff and guest complaints.
- Support and uphold hotel philosophy concerning hiring, employee relations, supervision and disciplinary action.
- Assist in raining, counseling and disciplining staff.
- Interact in a courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff and community members.
- Respond in a courteous, professional and rapid manner in order to resolve all guest and staff difficulties.
- Attending training sessions set out by the Westin Resort Guam to ensure continued personal development.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.

- Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to create, implement and monitor hotel and staff operating standards, procedures and annual objectives.
- Ability to train, motivate, evaluate, mentor and direct employees to meet desired ends.
- Exceptional oral communication skills to ensure ability to negotiate and persuade guests and staff to achieve results beneficial to operation of the hotel.
- Ability to focus and maintain attention to performance of tasks despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups to managers, clients, customers, and ownership.

Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years’ experiences as Operating Engineer or Trade Foreman with specialty training.
Supervisory experience required; bachelor’s degree Preferred.
Other Duties:
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance to all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
