Job Title: Critical Facilities Technician (I-IV)

We are currently seeking skilled Critical Facilities Technicians to join our team and ensure the reliability and performance of our critical infrastructure.
Role Overview:
The Critical Facilities Technician is a crucial member of the site-level Data Center Operations team, responsible for the maintenance and preventative upkeep of our Datacenter in Ellendale. Candidates with various MEP experiences are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will contribute to daily site operations, including the creation and modification of site operating procedures, change management tickets, timely incident reporting, and site maintenance and repairs/inspections to ensure Applied Digital's data center operations achieve the highest level of availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain a complete understanding of facility layout and operation of MEP systems, including the ability to illustrate site-specific system one-lines accurately.
- Familiarize with equipment nomenclature standards, locations, facility drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Understand equipment sequence of operations (SOO’s), standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and emergency operating procedures (EOP’s).
- Adhere to customer SLA’s and engineering-specific lease obligations critical to data center operations.
- Master BMS alarm functionality, alarm escalation/acknowledgment, and data extraction and trending.
- Follow Applied Digital’s event management, event escalation, and incident reporting procedures.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, edit, implement, and close change management work orders.
- Create, edit, resolve, and close incident reports following site incidents.
- Uphold maintenance and operations standards and adhere to Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Supervise construction activities and installations as required.
- Execute site-specific change management processes, including creating Method of Procedures (MOPs) for low-risk preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Effectively troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Respond to unplanned events without immediate supervision.
- Conduct rounds/inspections and detect anomalies.
- Develop or improve SOPs for site-specific equipment.
- Understand local customer business and data center operations.
- Support various accreditation initiatives, and participate in continuing education.
- Complete Critical Awareness & Safety Training.
What You’ll Need:
- Hands-on electrical or mechanical skills and competence in the non-specialized area (e.g., electrical expertise with mechanical competence, or vice versa).
- Basic knowledge of various UPS systems, cooling systems, and architectures.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency principles.
- Strong interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues, complex inquiries, or complaints.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic understanding of emergency situations and escalation processes.
- Understanding of CMMS, DCIM, and power metering systems.
- Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of network devices, materials, or equipment.
- Ability to work under a raised data center floor and climb ladders (up to 16 feet) to reach plenum spaces.
