The Human Resources Business Partner, onsite in San Diego, CA and reporting to the Director of HR, will provide HR support to business units serving as a strategic and tactical partner on various people, organization and talent priorities. You'll be uniquely positioned to develop a deep understanding of the business, partner closely with leaders, and provide strategic advising on complex HR initiatives. You'll work across HR and business functions, while having an opportunity to learn, use and grow a variety of skills, including strategic thought leadership, innovation, project management, analysis, organizational change, and leader and employee development. You will also be assisting with the full recruiting lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates. In addition, you will provide support in various HR functions, such as employee relations and HR compliance. This role will serve as an advisor for management and main point of contact for employees.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Supports leadership teams on business and employee matters. Understands the goals and strategies of the business and develops strategic and tactical HR plans to meet or exceed business goals.
- Leads and serves as advisor and coach on initiatives to successfully use HR processes and resources to achieve high performance, exceed strategic objectives and adapt to and manage organizational and business changes.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, and terminations).
- Serves as the first point of contact for all employee relations issues/concerns; coordinates/ conducts investigations and resolves issues promptly.
- Assists in recruiting to develop successful recruiting strategies and plans for new employees.
- Adheres to or develops new standard methodologies. Analyzes data and trends and recommends, develops, and delivers on plans to improve associate experiences, including retention, engagement, innovation, and culture.
- Ensures a proactive, fair, and consistent application of policies and procedures, employee relations concerns and performance management questions or issues, including those of moderate to high complexity.
- Facilitates annual performance review processes.
- May implement, coordinate, and facilitate basic and intermediate training for managers around issues of people management, leadership, and HR compliance.
- Handles confidential information in a professional manner, respecting employee privacy while maintaining company confidentiality.
- Oversees incident reporting, the return-to-work process, and worker’s compensation claims for client group. Monitors work areas for compliance with programs/policies (audit, walk-throughs, etc.).
- Answers employee questions regarding leaves of absences, tracks and resolves leave issues.
- Maintains responsibility for handbook updates for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Facilitates the new employee on-boarding and new hire orientation program.
- Facilitates the new employee survey program.
- Facilitates terminations and off-boarding processes.
- Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to leadership for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
- May perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall success of the HR function.

Experience:
- 7 + years of progressive and diverse HR experience; technology industry experience preferred.
- Experience in talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations.
- Strong knowledge of change management and team effectiveness processes.
- Knowledge of employment and labor laws, including FMLA.
- Working knowledge using Rippling or other HRIS/ATS systems.
- High proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word, & Excel.
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successful implementation.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- Master’s degree, PHR, SHPR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Working conditions:
The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an office setting, in an indoor, temperature controlled environment. The office environment noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, standing and walking intermittently, reach with hands, arms, talk or hear. The employee is required to use office equipment such as a computer, mouse, keyboard, printer.
The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of San Diego, California is [$105,000 - $130,000] Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
