Job Summary – Controls Engineer
The Controls Engineer is an operations and engineering position, responsible for the continuous improvement of existing solutions and implementation of new control systems. The position works directly with engineering, maintenance and operations to ensure technical solutions continue to evolve with the business and manufacturing process. The position focus is to maximize equipment intelligence, safety and efficiency while looking for ways to minimize repetitive human interactions.
Reporting Structure
Reports to Engineering Manager.
Key Roles / Responsibilities / Deliverables
- Drive continuous improvement in all smart plant and equipment objectives
- Design control systems that provide instantaneous feedback to operators and supervisor
- Work with Maintenance to create user applications to monitor and control production processes
- Assist Plant Engineering Team with Electrical Engineering design and review for new and existing equipment installations
- Industrial Controller (PLC) programming and Human Machine Interface (HMI) design, development and troubleshooting using Allen Bradley, RS Logix 500, 5000, PanelView, Factory Talk View Studio
- Wonderware System Platform development and troubleshooting using InTouch, Historian, Trend
- Provide formal and informal training on OT systems as system changes are implemented
- Expose data from new and existing sensors for MES data collection o ifm, Keyence
- Automation system support, development and troubleshooting (Robotics, Vision, Gantry, Storage, etc.) using ABB, Fanuc, ROS, C++, Cognex, LMI, Photoneo, Modula, Parker, Allen Bradley, Savant
- Develop and support OT Disaster Recovery processes and procedures
Qualifications / Education
- Bachelor’s degree desired in Electrical Engineering / Controls Engineering or related technical degree
- 3 to 5 years of industry experience
- Willing to work in a plant environment
- Able to work full time and flex hours when needed
