A Little About Us:
Our employees are special! They are more than just caregivers; they are support professionals. Our staff actively teach our participants to make independent choices, guide them through vocational processes, enhance their social skills, and help them understand the value they bring to the community.
Vocational Visions has been supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for almost 50 years. We have two offices in Mission Viejo and our participants are employed in over 50 locations throughout Orange County.
A Little About You:
We are looking for people are passionate about working with special needs adults. If you have experience working with our population, even better! As an employee, you will be responsible for:
· Creating a positive environment for your participants to socialize, learn occupational skills, and care for their physical needs. Yes, there is a lot of singing and dancing involved;
· Keeping notes of your participants’ progress. You may be in a group of 4, or you may only have one participant, and we want to know about the amazing things they learn each day;
· Accompanying your participants in the community where you will guide them as they practice social and community living skills;
· Driving our participants to community outings and maintaining the vehicles you drive. We need excellent drivers to take them on new adventures in our company-provided cars. But our Job Coaches drive their own cars to meet the participant at their worksite;
· Instructing and championing self-advocacy and self-sufficiency by reinforcing healthy eating habits, good choices and proper grooming and hygiene;
· Meeting our qualifications. Before you can become a member of our team, you will need to be 18+ years old, possess a valid driver’s license, graduated from high school or equivalent, and ideally have some experience working with disabled adults. If you are not CPR certified, you must agree to become CPR certified and maintain and use your skills throughout your employment.
· Lifting, pushing, pulling and moving up to 50 pounds for when your participant needs help, depending on the program.
· Passing some pre-hire requirements. We keep our participants safe, so you will be required to take a physical, pass a background check and drug screen. But we do pay for all of it!
What We Offer:
Most programs only work Monday through Friday, so you can have your weekends free! Most of our employees work from 8:00am to 2:30pm, and anyone who works more than 30 hours is eligible for medical, dental, vision, AD&D, and life insurance. Even better, we provide PTO, sick leave and holiday pay. Last, but not least, we offer an hourly pay range of $19.00 - $20.50, depending on experience and job title (Non-exempt).
Job Choices:
· Instructional Aid/Independent Facilitator – These employees work onsite in our Mission Viejo locations. There are three unique programs, each devoted to serving the needs of our participants based on their abilities, age, personal and vocational goals, and health needs. But our participants like to get out, too, so our employees will drive them in our company cars, or walk them to different community locations to enjoy the sites. Employees who enjoy teaching and a set routine are drawn to these positions.
· Community Coach – This program is entirely community-based focusing on employment and life skills of persons-served. Coaches offer 100% coaching during work and leisure time. If you also like to be in the community, this may be the position for you.
- Job Coach - Want a more flexible schedule? Our job coaches drive their own cars to meet our clients at their job sites. We need full-time and part-time employees who can work Monday through Friday (and possibly Saturdays) ranging from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Janitor/Job Coach - We are looking for a janitor who will not only use the skills you have, but also teach our persons served. You will spend 6 hours training 3 of our persons served, and the other two hours keeping our facility tidy and sanitary.
