Job Title: Medical Assistant – Pain Management
A Medical Assistant is an essential role in creating a welcoming environment. Candidates must be able to coordinate and track a variety of details to provide a seamless patient experience. Summary of Job Function:
Office Visits Tasks:
- Prepares patients for appropriate office visits/exams/procedures.
- Interviews patients, assesses vital signs, and other pertinent information required such as allergies, medication review, and all past medical history, etc.
- Gathers appropriate documents and scans them into the patient’s chart, for instance, MRI, X-Ray, CT scan, EMG, results as well as Preliminary Reports and additional medical records.
- Utilizes a randomizer to determine urinalysis testing and prepare ISTOPS for the Providers
- Collect, prepare, and log laboratory specimens, schedule specimen pickups, and upload results.
- Uploads results as well as maintaining daily logs; Procedure Log, Medication Log, Refrigerator Log, Urine Log, MRSA Log, COVID19 Log, and Pulse Ox Log.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up each day prior to/end of your shift.
- Required to carry/lift/transport items of 30 plus lbs. (e.g., Fluoroscopic Unit, Patient Transport Ramp(s), Ultrasound/PRP Devices & Wheelchair-bound patients, etc.)
- Monitor Biohazard sharps containers and dispose of any garbage in exam rooms.
- Other duties as assigned.
OR/Recovery Tasks:
o Measures vital signs and performs the necessary CLIA tests if required. (hCG, INR, Glucose)
o Completes the Pre-Op, Intra-Op & Post-Op Questionnaires.
o Operates C-Arm Unit during procedures and documents all accompanying fluoroscopy.
o Assists patients moving in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and recovery chairs.
o Cleans/Sterilizes/Disinfects instruments/units via autoclave after procedures.
o Stores and organizes supplies/instruments and restocking OR.
o Completes OR Opening/Closing Checklist and all Daily Logs, including but not limited to Procedure Log, Refrigerator Log, Autoclave Log, Crash Cat Log, C-Arm Log, Eyewash Log, Pregnancy Log, Glucose Log, INR Log, Spore Testing Log, and Chemical Cleaning Log
o Ensures all consent forms and recovery notes are reviewed and uploaded to EHR.
Job Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant Preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance authorization requirements
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
- Effective customer relation skills, ability to organize and interpret data.
- Must have excellent verbal, written communication, and typing skills.
- Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to provide excellent patient care.
- Practice confidentially and privacy protocols in accordance with clinical policies and HIPAA requirements
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to stand and wear an X-Ray lead apron/thyroid lead for an extended period of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
