We are currently seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist for our youth initiative, Planning Alternatives & Creating Community (PACC) program under our Pretrial Services Supervised Released program.
Working with the young-adult population requires flexibility, creativity, relatability and persistence, and the Youth Engagement Specialist will be expected to engage with the participants both at the office and in the community. By developing meaningful relationships with young adults, the Youth Engagement Specialist will meet the participants where they are (with extensive services in the community) to open new opportunities. The Youth Engagement Specialist will be expected to work collaboratively with the rest of the team to generate and implement ideas for effective youth-focused engagement tactics (such as groups, field trips, and tangible incentives). This position requires fieldwork within the larger NYC community.
The PACC initiative at CASES is youth-focused where our team primarily works with justice involved 16–27-year-old participants. Our team consists of Case Coordinators, Clinical Case Coordinators and Youth Engagement Specialists to support young people to achieve and maintain pretrial compliance while offering a range of youth focused services, such as incentivized work programs, to support early intervention and long-term success in the community. Our team promotes proactive, sustained engagement with young people in the community as a catalyst toward pathways of education and employment, including by bridging effective community partners eager to support our participants to achieve their goals.
Shift Hours: The Youth Engagement Specialist position is full time from Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

What you will be doing:
Develop trusting/transformative relationships with youth referred and found eligible for the program
Have contact with youth 2-3 times per week in person in the community
Develop a strong relationship with the communities served by ACES
Escort participants to appointments
Participate and facilitate in-office programming
Manage the stress related to the intensity of the work by adopting self-care strategies, effectively utilizing supervision and team meetings, and participating in team building and team stress reduction activities
Effectively use program database to track work and ensure program performance is effectively measured.
Attend trips and activities with the team and participants and other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Director

A willingness to adhere to an evolving model with the understanding that PACC is intended to be different from traditional supervised release
A belief that PACC participants have the ability and capacity for change
Strong communication skills
An understanding of who PACC serves and the environments they live in
