Position Overview
The FSQA Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of Quality Assurance Technicians and provides direct, on-the-floor support to ensure Technicians are performing tasks accurately and at the required frequency. In addition, the FSQA Supervisor works with the Quality Operations Manager (QOM) to ensure compliance with food quality standards and documentation. This includes (but not limited to) procedures, programs, and policies related to pre-requisite programs and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) certification.

Schedule: 3rd shift - approximately 3 AM - 11 AM, yet with a willingness to work other shifts and/or hours if needed
Essential Functions
Supervision of Quality Assurance Technicians (“QA Techs”)
- Ensures Techs are:
- Trained in all aspects of their position as listed on the QA Technician job description
- Properly conducting GMP audits, pre-operational inspections, and investigations
- Performing all checks properly and at the proper frequency
- Placing holds on non-confirming or suspected products
- Collecting routine samples (and managing retains)
- Performing swabbing required for routine environmental monitoring
- Coaching production associates on proper Food Safety & Food Quality procedures
- Directs QA Techs on daily priorities & provides direct, on-the-floor support
- Establishes and maintains a positive and safe work environment; consistently communicates and drives team toward company and department goals
- Holds QA Techs accountable for abiding by expectations and demonstrating company values; properly documents issues, including disciplinary action
- Administrative duties, such as scheduling QA Techs, as well as interviewing/evaluating/selecting/onboarding new QA personnel
Food Safety & Quality Procedures, Programs & Policies
- Responsible for QA final product and environmental sample shipment for laboratory testing and maintaining submittal documentation
- Responsible for reviewing Food Safety Plan controls & monitoring activities performed by Technicians on a daily basis with maintained employee completion & accuracy closely supervised
- Responsible for ensuring all monitoring activities, including calibrations, lab equipment maintenance, equipment verifications are executed according to the written food safety plan
- Reviews, verifies, maintains and documents (hard and electronic) related to SQF, HACCP and Pre-Operational/Sanitation records
- Updates forms and SOPs as required, maintaining version history
- Maintains deviations and completes corrective actions
- Conducts investigations related to product quality issues, employee complaints or errors
- Assists with Food Safety/GMP quality related audit preparation
Collaboration & Communication
- Provides feedback and coaching to all other department associates in best practices in food safety and quality
- Collaborates with QA and Operations management to investigate and help solve issues that arise on the production floor
- Reviews on-hold materials with plant management and assists with timely dispositions
- Actively participates in continuous improvement, lean practices, six sigma, 5S, food safety, environmental and plant safety programs.

Education, Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- 3+ year of people leadership experience; leadership experience in Quality Assurance preferred
- Experience in Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing facility is a must
- BS in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field a plus
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
- Must be able to successfully complete PCQI, HACCP and SQF Certification (required) or already have these skills (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail. Must be able to read, write, and speak English to properly understand and relay important safety and quality information.
- Familiar with USDA and FDA regulations, guidelines and interaction with regulatory entities.
- Demonstrate ability to actively participate in a positive and engaged team atmosphere.
- Work well with others to establish and maintain excellent interdepartmental relationships.
- Familiarity with lab safety and handling of hazardous materials.
- MS Office proficiency with the ability to analyze, input, graph, trend and report data in a detailed and understandable manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment as well as individually focused document review
