The Difference You Will Make: You will have the opportunity to lead our experienced preconstruction team in developing construction estimates and proposals for new builds and existing building renovations of commercial, manufacturing, and mission-critical facilities. On the Preconstruction team, you will work with our clients to understand their needs and then prepare conceptual, design-build, and hard bid estimates and proposals to deliver a solution that fits. Your experience will get you the job; your professionalism, integrity, and customer focus will ensure your success.
Analyze and compile estimate data that impacts the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location, and other factors to ensure a high-quality and timely estimate.
Review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in the final project estimate.
Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase the competitiveness of the bid.
Perform and review “take-off” quantities to ensure the accuracy of data used in estimates.
Perform and review the bid schedule.
Utilize existing cost history as a check to complete the estimate.
Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.
Communicate the estimate and other factors to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure an understanding of the scope of the job, schedule, and critical means and methods of construction.
Participate in and/or lead design-build preconstruction services to ensure high quality, competitive estimates, and schedules.
Support business development efforts through participation in industry associations and client interactions.
Coach and train team members.
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, or another relevant field.
Eight (8) or more years of construction experience.
Experience preparing detailed conceptual estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility-level documentation.
Firm grasp of unit costs and factors affecting costs.
Ability to prepare detailed instructions for bidders.
Ability to be active in preparing and presenting budget/cost to clients.
Ability to lead and facilitate Value Engineering sessions with the project team and design team.
Ability to lead RFP estimate process and proposal with support from business development, marketing, and project teams.
Ability to identify key concerns and evaluate risk for the company and clients.
