Job Title: Crawford County Recreation Center (CCRC) Executive Director
FLSA Status: Exempt/Salary
Reports to: Board of Directors
Salary Range: $55,000-$70,000, plus performance-based compensation and retirement plan
Position Summary
The Crawford County Recreation Center (CCRC) Executive Director provides executive leadership, collaborating with the Board of Directors to plan, develop, direct, and evaluate comprehensive recreation programs and services for the Community. This includes overseeing strategic planning, management, and operations to ensure a positive member experience and maintain a safe and efficient facility. The Executive Director leads the organization in achieving its mission, including overseeing its financial stability, community relations, staffing, development, and operations, under the policies, directives, and guidelines established by the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute long-term vision, goals, and growth strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance programs, services, and member engagement.
- Lead philanthropic efforts and community partnerships.
- Coordinate board committees and program volunteer activities.
- Report to the Board of Directors on matters affecting the welfare of the organization.
Operational Management
- Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing and facility maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations via policies & procedures and industry standards.
- Monitor budget, expenses, and revenue.
- Direct development of the strategic plan and organizational goals.
Staff Supervision and Development
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff.
- Ensure proper training and performance evaluation.
- Supervise staff to carry out initiatives and programs.
Member Experience
- Focus on member satisfaction and providing a welcoming environment.
- Develop high-quality member engagement strategies.
- Address member concerns and maintain excellent customer service.
Program Development
- Create and implement fitness, recreation, sport, and community programs and events.
- Stay informed about industry trends and incorporate innovative offerings.
- Assess and monitor community needs; create and implement programs tailored to meet those needs.
Equipment and Facility Management
- Procure and maintain fitness equipment.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the facility.
- Address repairs or improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage budgets.
- Ensure fiscal management and reporting.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue-generating initiatives.
- Provide leadership in securing needed resources for current operations, capital improvement, community development, and long-range financial stability.
- Develop and manage a yearly fundraising plan that includes major gifts, planned giving, fundraising events, campaigns, and grant proposals.
Community Engagement
- Engage with members and local organizations.
- Communicate and collaborate with government, schools, non-profits, corporations, and other stakeholders in the community.
- Direct marketing and communication efforts.
- Develop advertising and promotional materials.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, community relations, business administration, human services, or related area preferred.
- Related executive/leadership certification preferred.
- Five or more years of management experience, preferably in the recreation and/or not-for-profit sector, including strategic planning, board and volunteer development, and philanthropic development.
- Demonstrated experience in community relations, financial management, and board development.
- Ability to attract, retain, lead, and motivate quality staff and volunteers.
- Knowledge and understanding of community resources and the ability to engage and partner with them effectively.
- Ability to connect and be viewed at a peer-to-peer level with other community executives.
- Ability to articulate organization mission, vision, and values effectively to community and industry partners.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more weight. If individual must lift and/or move weight beyond their ability, they must ask for assistance from another staff member. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
