Mifflin County Municipal Authority (MCMA) is a public water utility serving customers in eight local Townships and Boroughs in Mifflin County. The Laurel Creek Filtration Plant (LCFP) is located in Milroy, PA, and operates 365 days per year. The LCFP has the capacity to treat 6 million gallons of water per day from the Laurel Creek reservoir and 3 groundwater wells. The award-winning safe drinking water is then gravity fed into the water main distribution system pipes and storage tanks that supply water to our community. We are looking for an entry level Water Treatment Plant Operator Apprentice to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma or GED with strong skills in math, mechanics, and electrical skills. The successful candidate should have at least one year of experience operating and maintaining machinery and equipment in a regulated environment while following extensive safety regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented candidate who is looking for job stability while being challenged daily to maintain high quality water treatment standards.
The position offers training opportunities with a certified apprenticeship program that can accelerate job progression upon successful completion.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties according to standard operating procedures.
- Monitor and operate SCADA equipment.
- Monitor and maintain treatment chemical feed rates.
- Backwash water filters.
- Record regulatory data accurately.
- Monitor and maintenance mechanical/electrical machinery in an industrial setting.
- Analytical equipment calibration.
- Perform lab tests on water samples.
- Provide customer service for emergency and complaint situations.
- The ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Acquire a PA DEP Operator Certification with subclasses.
- Basic Excel and Word skills.
- Hold a valid PA driver's license.
- Pass a PA criminal background check.

Pay: From $21.75 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
