Sound good? (We think so, too!) Here’s what you would do:
- Gear the program to the needs of the individual child with concern for his/her interest, handicaps, special talents, style and pace of learning. Consider the individual child relationship to his/her cultural and socioeconomic background
- Plan and coordinate daily program operation and manage staff scheduling
- Foster family-center-community relationships
- Assist in accounting and enrollment for program
- Assist in supervising all full-time and part-time staff
- Plan and implement evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children
- Ensure the supervision and safety of children at all times
- Maintain and hold accountable cleaning, sanitation and disinfection standards
- Be a role model for the children by displaying the character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
- Maintain positive relations with program collaborators and clientele, communicating regularly with parents, teachers, and school administration through meetings, newsletters, and Monthly calendars
- Interact with children being consistent, fair and treating them dignity and respect according to the YMCA Code of Conduct
“I can do this!” What are the requirements?
- Must have 15 units in ECE/CD or related field or an Associate degree with a major in child development and two years’ experience or a B.A. in early childhood education or child development. Six semester units shall be in administration and two units in adult supervision. Must have taken Infant/Toddler classes and have direct experience in an infant/toddler program
- Six units in recreation, physical education or units earned towards elementary teaching credentials may be submitted for six units in early childhood
- Minimum one year supervisory experience
- Knowledge of CA State Licensing requirements for preschool.
- High skill level in organization, planning and implementation of administrative procedures
- Has a warm and friendly personality, while having sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population
- The ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures
- Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions
- A physical exam and TB test within 7 days of hire
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation
- Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross or American Heart Association
