MCI is a 44-year-old industry leader in the design, manufacture, and assembly of electrical controls, electrical enclosures, irrigation pumps and controls, municipal and commercial pump stations, water purification systems and design-to-order metal fabrications. As a mechanical design engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of mechanical solutions across diverse applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products that meet client specifications and industry standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical solutions for a wide range of industrial applications, adhering to client requirements and industry standards.
- Generate accurate and comprehensive bills of materials (BOMs) based on design specifications, ensuring compatibility of all components.
- Create/modify routings to select the proper manufacturing steps as well as allotted time a product needs.
- Create detailed 3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor).
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, application engineers, project managers, and clients, to gather requirements, share progress, and address design challenges.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure that designs align with project goals, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to continuously improve design processes and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to the optimization of designs, focusing on factors such as cost-efficiency, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
- Support the procurement team by providing technical guidance on component selection and vendor relationships.
- Provide technical assistance during the manufacturing and assembly phases, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring the accurate implementation of designs.
- Perform designs and engineering in accordance with job specifications, site layouts, size restrictions, and existing equipment that is being replaced.
Skills & Requirements:
- Mechanical Design/Drafting degree/certification or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience (2+ years) in design/Drafting for various applications, preferably within a relevant industry
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles and design.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, ISO,UL).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design-related issues.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality designs.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and a fast-paced work environment.
