Job Title: Contract Scientist, Protein Chemistry, Large Molecule Discovery
Location: San Francisco, CA 94080
Shift: M-F 8-4
Duration: 12 months
Pay: $52-87/hour max depending upon experience
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in protein chemistry and good experience in the chemical biology field.
Qualifications:
- A BS or MS in a life sciences discipline, with training in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or related fields, experience in the industry is preferred.
- Prior laboratory experience (internships, co-ops, or academic research) is preferred but not required.
- Some experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, and ELISA is desired but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and keen to improve processes.
- This position’s work environment is based in a laboratory/ bench environment.
Responsibilities:
- This role requires an understanding of bioconjugate chemistry, method optimization, and bioconjugates purification to support our research and development projects.
- Design, develop, and optimize plate-based enzymatic assays for a wide range of targets to support research and development.
- Implement robust assay protocols to evaluate enzyme activity, specificity, and inhibitor screening.
- Assist in the development and optimization of bioconjugates stability assays and linker-payload release methods. Conduct linker-payload enzymatic release studies to evaluate the specificity of payload release.
- Prepare and maintain reagents, buffers, and other laboratory supplies required for assays.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to assay performance.
- Work closely with discovery team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements in the laboratory.
- This position is a hands-on lab-based role.
- The physical demands of this position are consistent with working in a laboratory/ bench environment. Some light lifting, and maneuvering may be required.
