The Warehouse Specialist (WHS) is responsible for performing various Hazardous Material (HM) management tasks in support of the Chemical Management Services (CMS) contract including material offloading, receiving and inspection, data base entry, labeling, delivery, storage, inventory, and operation of material handling equipment.
Specific Warehouse Specialist tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Operate forklift.
- Review paperwork from deliveries and follow the proper Receiving procedure to include labelling and correct bin storage or dock delivery location.
- Check documents for compliance with DOT Regulations and prepare additional documentation when necessary.
- Work with Chemico Team on all requests for replenishment of stock.
- Inventory all stock products monthly and participate in inventory reconciliation program.
- Facilitates the receipt and dispersal of materials entering or leaving warehouse where required.
- Verify all products are labeled prior to delivery.
- Actively participate in safety activities.
- Perform related tasks as required.
- Facilitate daily orders and meet the on-time delivery schedule to the customer.
- Ability to take direction and work cohesively with Warehouse Supervisor and Chemico Staff on site.
- Follow all safety guidelines with Chemico on site staff and with drivers and others outside of Chemico who may enter the warehouse.
- Ability to segregate chemicals and work with packaged chemicals in a safe manner.
- Preparation of chemical deliveries, loading of chemicals by hand or forklift.
- Keeps Warehouse and work area clean and tidy.
- Stacking of goods in correct storage bins.
- Stacking of empty pallets.
- Inspection and proper maintenance of forklift.
- Determine placarding based on DOT requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Unload trucks
- Verify product condition.
- Check product in using receiving sheet - capture all data.
- Label Product
- Verify labels and lot numbers.
- Stage products on shelves.
- Pick product for shipping - verify lot #'s, labels and qty.
- Prepare products for shipment.
- Load truck.
- Disposition material for disposal.
- Perform weekly inventory.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- General knowledge of modern warehouse and inventory practices
- General knowledge of the applicable standard grades and qualities of chemicals, materials and supplies
- Detail oriented.

- Ability to work in a team setting/team player.

- Ability to work a flexible shift which may include weekends and evenings.
- Ability to be on call 24 hours when necessary.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with associates, suppliers, & ATS personnel; ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate with some college courses preferred. Forklift Certified. Ability to comprehend and ensure all GHS and DOT requirements are met on outgoing shipments
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Some standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must pass criminal and financial background check and drug screening prior to hire and must be able to pass and sustain the DLA PSI background check criteria during the entire duration of their employment.
- Must possess acceptable computer operations and database entry skills.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance consistent with the workplace environment.
- Required to wear OSHA-compliant and serviceable protective footwear at all times.
- Fork-Lift License
- HAZWOPR training
