Reports to: Head of School
Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time, 9-12-month position. Must allow flexibility according to
the needs of the program. May include evenings and weekends for special events.
HFI Mission Duties:

history of serving children and families in the Pittsburgh Region. We are one of
Pittsburgh’s largest social service organizations operating 15 programs in three counties.

Industrial Arts Teacher & Fabrication Labs Manager
Nazareth Prep seeks a passionate and experienced Industrial Arts Teacher to join our
dynamic team and lead our Fabrication Lab program. In this exciting role, you will not
only develop and deliver engaging courses in machining, fabrication, and manufacturing,
but also serve as the program coordinator, fostering a robust learning environment that
prepares students for the future of industry.
Key Responsibilities:
● Teaching:
○ Develop, deliver, and assess a variety of courses related to machining,
fabrication, manufacturing, and digital fabrication.
○ Incorporate human-centered design thinking into your teaching to
encourage creativity, empathy, and problem-solving in students.
○ Collaborate with teachers in other content areas to develop
interdisciplinary projects that utilize fabrication and industrial arts
applications.
● Fabrication Lab Management:
○ Lead the Fabrication Lab program, ensuring its efficient operation and
alignment with industry needs.
○ Oversee the "Industry-Based Solutions Lab" program, where students
tackle real-world problems throughout the year.
○ Work with teachers across grade levels to scaffold preparation for student
work in the labs, ensuring a smooth progression of skills development.
○ Train students on the safe and effective use of fabrication equipment in
simulated and actual industry applications.
○ Foster a makerspace environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and innovation.
Additional Responsibilities:
● Develop and maintain curriculum for assigned courses.
● Stay current on industry trends and best practices in fabrication and additive manufacturing.
● Integrate technology and digital fabrication tools into instruction.
● Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
● Serve as a student advisor and provide guidance on academic and career paths.
● Support the overall Industrial Arts department and contribute to a collaborative learning environment.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts Education, Technology Education, or a related field.
● Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching industrial arts or related subjects at the high school level.
● Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, manufacturing, and digital fabrication processes.
● Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging, hands-on curriculum.
● Experience using human-centered design thinking methodologies in education (preferred).
● Passion for fostering interdisciplinary learning and collaboration.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, teachers, and industry partners.
● Strong commitment to safety and maintaining a well-organized and functional fabrication lab.
● Ability to inspire students and prepare them for success in future careers in manufacturing and fabrication.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: ● Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Education, Program Management, or a related field. ● Experience working in a school or educational setting is preferred. ● Strong organizational and time management skills. ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ● Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. ● Proficient in using technology and project management tools. ● Public facing position with business casual attire in office and business attire for some meetings. ● Detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team. ● Must be flexible and adaptable, able to work some evenings and weekends.
