The Opto/Mechanical Assembler is a professional responsible for assembling devices or systems that combine optical and mechanical components. This role involves working with components such as lenses, mirrors, sensors, and other optical elements, as well as mechanical parts like frames, mounts, and enclosures. The goal is to create products that use both optical and mechanical principles to function effectively. Opto-mechanical assemblers often work as part of a larger team, collaborating with engineers, designers, and other professionals. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial for successful project outcomes.
What you will do is:
- Audit 1-2 work order kits from warehouse to confirm pieces and part numbers
- Prepare subassembly components
- Follow written procedures or drawings developed by engineers and suggest improvements to optimize production
- Assemble and debug systems incorporating optical, mechanical, and electronic components
- Test each level of assembly (4-5 processes) at the system level using laboratory instruments (i.e. interferometer, Zygo, etc.)
-Alignment, optimization, stability, transmission, etc.
- Package the final assembly daily (if assembly is completed)
- Cross training is required (trainee and/or trainer)
What will you bring to the team is:
- The ability to read engineering drawings
- The ability use measurement instruments (interferometer, Zygo) preferred
- Experience entering data numbers into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets templates
- The ability to speak, read, and write in English
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Pay Range: $27.02 - 50.19 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
