Job Title: Preschool Teacher
Good Shepherd Day School is a premier early childhood center located in Tampa, Florida. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning, our school combines the arts, nature, Christian values and academic excellence to create a culture of learning and exploration.
Good Shepherd Day School’s mission is to serve God and our community by teaching and practicing the values that are important for being a successful, spiritual and intellectual member of our 21st century society.
The influence of the Reggio Emilia approach drives what we call "our image of the child". We see the child as a competent learner, already arriving with their own ideas about the world. We see that the child has "a hundred languages" to express those ideas through the use of a variety of materials and media. We see the child as someone who wants to establish relationships with other children, teachers, the materials and the environment. We see the child as powerful, capable of understanding deep and meaningful learning. When we see the child in this way, we develop a culture of responding to each child in a way that is unique to their individual temperament and talents.
