MRI Technologies has partnered with NASA since 1988 to deliver software solutions that meet the complex operational environment of space flight. MRI, a woman-owned technologies and engineering services company, has a need for an experienced Platform Engineer to support our EAST 2 Contract.
NASA is on a mission to enhance cloud services and modernize its development environments throughout the organization. As a Platform Engineer your mission will be to ensure that all of our systems and services run reliably and support our users' needs. You will be in charge of monitoring system health, as well as creating automation tooling to automate routine tasks.
The MRI developer team is a group of passionate developers, working closely together to identify problems at NASA. We are passionate about open source software and take a very pragmatic approach when evaluating the tooling, languages, and frameworks used on a given project. This position is 100% remote, working with a fantastic team of developers from across the country and collaborating with multiple NASA centers. On this team you get the best of both worlds, the start-up feel of a group of passionate developers and the excitement of working for NASA.
Responsibilities:

Architecting and deploying cloud-native systems with AWS and GCP, with Infrastructure-as-Code

Setting up DevSecOps and GitOps workflows

Developing and integrating platform services

Working closely with application and data service engineering teams, to bring their solutions to NASA's cloud-native platform: AppDat

Helping secure and protect NASA data and cloud systems

Working directly with NASA leadership to create impact solutions and cloud-native services.

Producing high quality technical proposals and documentation

Solving complex problems with innovative solutions
Required Experience / Qualifications:

BS degree and 10 years of relevant experience or 15 years of relevant experience

Experience with Kubernetes in production
-
Experience with CI/CD (preferably Gitlab CI)

Understanding of GitOps Principals, preferably experience with a GitOps engine such as FluxCD or ArgoCD

Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure automation tooling

Extensive Linux experience

Expert in at least one programming language (Go is preferred)

Solution-oriented mindset, accepts feedback with enthusiasm

Effectively communicates with team members: clear status updates to direct report, regularly establishes unanimous decisions with peers

Ability to thrive in a fully remote organization
