We are looking for a passionate nursing leader to join our team of caring individuals working together to provide care and services to aging adults in a community where people find freedom, growth, and self-expression.
In this role, the Director of Nursing:
Provides the clinical and management leadership for the nursing department that ensures that standards of quality are upheld, values and vision of the organization are reinforced, staff is motivated and supported, and regulatory compliance is achieved at all levels of campus (skilled, assisted, and residential).
1. Develops and supports a high quality, person-centered team by
· Hiring orienting licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel
· Overseeing the process for assigning staff to care areas in order to maintain consistent assignments
· Motivating, coaching, and evaluating staff, demonstrating a strong commitment to servant leadership
· Disciplining and terminating staff as necessary
· Creating an environment of learning for members of team, providing information, and educational opportunities
2. Facilitates person-centered care by
· Emphasizing resident choice and decision-making
· Acknowledging the importance of quality of life and the potential for each resident to live a rich and meaningful life
· Demonstrating a commitment to whole-person wellness
· Maintaining confidentiality at all times
3. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation requirements, and corporate compliance by
· Developing necessary policies and procedures
· Providing leadership during surveys and survey preparation activities
· Developing and implementing an oversight system that includes regular auditing of records and rounds for observation
· Understanding and adhering to the Admiral’s Compliance Program and Policies as they appear in the Code of Conduct and other compliance policies
· Reviewing the Conduct of Conduct annually and signing as such
· Participating and regular attending the corporate compliance committee meetings
· Confirming that documentation and all medical records are maintained according to regulatory and clinical practice standards

· Holding staff accountable for standard care
· Facilitating the campus quality improvement meetings
· Demonstrating commitment to continuous quality improvement towards the goal of achieving highest level results
· Maintaining professional development through participation in meetings, conferences, and seminars as well as through independent study and professional networking
5. Fosters teamwork by
· Promoting an environment of resident-centered teams
· Supporting the decentralization of departments and the cross-training of staff in blended roles
· Using a team approach to decision-making and problem-solving

· Understanding, recognizing, and utilizing the unique contributions of the team members
· Developing collaboration among medical, nursing, dining, facilities, and administrative staff
· Consulting with medical director, pharmacy consultant, and other providers/consultants on a regular basis and providing support needed for maintaining successful relationships
6. Provides good fiscal and management oversight by
· Preparing nursing department budget, monitoring expenses on a regular basis, and maintaining control so as to reach department’s fiscal goals
· Demonstrating expertise in Medicare and reimbursement requirements
· Monitoring the purchasing process for medications, medical supplies, and equipment
· Assuring the timely and accurate processing of bills
· Achieving corporation objectives for absenteeism, overtime, turnover, unemployment compensation claims and safety
· Monitoring and properly processing payroll and other personnel forms
7. Acts with vision and purpose by
· Consistently supporting the Vision and Mission Statement and the Values and Practices
· Coordinating and carrying out assigned projects to effectively support the organization’s immediate and long-range objectives
· Participating in strategic planning for the community

· Challenging traditional thought with sound new ideas and methods while maintaining adherence to government rules and regulations

· Reporting safety hazards throughout the community

10. Ensures that the health care needs of residents in independent living are addressed by
· Participating in decisions regarding moves between levels of campus and discharge planning
· Coordinating the system through which emergency needs of residential residents are met
· Developing and maintaining a system for on-call coverage, and participating in rotation as needed
12. Conforms with requirements of the compliance program by
· Conforms with the requirements of the compliance program by understanding and adhering to Kendal’s Compliance Program and Policies as they appear in the Code of Conduct and other compliance policies. Annually acknowledges review of the Code of Conduct by signature, and annually attends corporate compliance education. Adheres to the policies and procedures covering Privacy and Security in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree for nursing and a current licensure by the State of Illinois.
· Five years’ experience in nurse management.

Pay: $104,000.00 - $137,000.00 per year
