Location: On site in Arlington, VA. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure.
- Conduct regular inspections of the data center facility to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
- Installing support structures (network, storage and enterprise servers, racks, switches, servers, etc.)
- Rack and stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels.
- Commission and Decommission of Hardware.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics of hardware/connectivity.
- Familiarity with Patch Panels.
- Adhere to change control processes.
- Must be able to perform component replacement (DIMMs, hard drives, power supplies).
- Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors.
- Troubleshoot and document technical issues using Service Now ticketing system
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, maintenance, and repairs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and end-users as needed.
- Assist with data center capacity planning and expansion projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
- At least two (2) years of experience in supporting datacenters, including Unix and Windows servers, switches, routers, storage, blade enclosures, hot swappable hard drives, racks, and cable management, etc.
- Willingness to respond to network and server errors after hours.
- A solid understanding of Facilities infrastructure, Windows operating systems, PC troubleshooting and management applications.
- Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment.
- Experience working in a complex high availability data center environment providing layer one hardware installation, ongoing maintenance, problem identification and incident resolution, or related experience.
- Physical hands on job, able to lift 50 lbs, move servers, walk stairs, climb a step ladder and be on your feet
- Candidates must be in good financial standing. This includes no bankruptcies, poor credit score, or in debt collection with no payment plan.
- All applicants must be United States Citizens.
- This position supports a federal government agency that requires a Background Investigation. The candidate must be able to clear a Public Trust clearance as well in order to commence work. That requires residing only in the United States for the past three years.
