Position Overview:
The Production Manager will play a critical role in managing all aspects of our manufacturing & production process, including safety, quality, timeliness, and efficiency. This position will involve leading a team of production workers, implementing process improvements, and maintaining a safe and organized production environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen attention to detail, and a passion for driving continuous improvement. This position is based out of our Nashville HQ with standard working ours of 9-5pm M-F.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety
- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
- Implement corrective actions to address any safety concerns or incidents.
Team
- Lead, motivate, and manage the production team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop training programs for team members.
- Address any personnel issues and maintain high levels of team morale and productivity.
Process
- Analyze and optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement best practices and lean manufacturing principles.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures for all production activities.
Lean
- Implement lean manufacturing techniques to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and engage the team in problem-solving activities.
- Monitor key performance indicators and drive improvements in productivity and efficiency.
Equipment
- Oversee the maintenance and efficient operation of all production equipment.
- Implement preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment or upgrades to improve production capabilities.
Materials
- Manage inventory levels and ensure the timely availability of materials required for production.
- Work with suppliers to ensure high-quality materials at the best possible prices.
- Monitor material usage and implement measures to minimize waste.
Quality
- Ensure that all products meet the company’s quality standards.
- Implement quality control processes and procedures.
- Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Timeliness
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Manage packaging & shipping of produced items.
- Communicate with other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve any delays.
Production Space
- Ensure that the production area is organized, clean, and well-maintained.
- Optimize the layout of the production space to enhance workflow and productivity.
- Manage the allocation and utilization of production space to meet changing needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business management or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience with process improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve production goals and objectives.
- Experience with large format printers and/or CNC equipment is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Experience with production scheduling and inventory management systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
