Nassau Candy is a premier importer, manufacturer and distributor of specialty confections, fine foods, and promotional products.
We are currently hiring a well-rounded Quality Control & Sanitation Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing the control systems to prevent violations of state and federal regulations, internal policies, and customer expectations, while continuously evaluating the efficiency of our controls and how to improve them.
This critical role will also supervise the day-to-day technical activities and overall functions of the on-site Quality Control (QC) and Sanitation Department reporting to the Corporate Food Safety and Compliance Manager with a dotted line to the on-site Plant Manager.
**This role will be in our Lanco facility in Ronkonkoma, NY and will be 100% on site.
Essential Functions:

Conduct weekly internal cGMP audits to ensure adherence to regulations and standards.

Annual, New Hire, and Refresher Training of all associates. [FDA, Quality, Sanitation, Pest Control, GMP, etc.], Maintain records, exams, and training registers as required.

Manage and respond effectively to compliance-related complaints, non-conformances, or investigations.
a. Level I: On-site Leads, Inspectors, Supervisors, Managers
b. Level II: Food Safety and Compliance Manager or Regulatory Manager
c. Level III: VP R&D

Inbound Vendor COA management. ensuring all inbound COA are reviewed and compared to the product specs and include necessary testing per the FDA and Ingredient Hazard Analysis.

Lab Samples & Transmittals; Outbound COAs / COCs

Monthly Environmental Monitoring [swab TESTING] Floor/desk

Annual Potable Water Testing Environmental Monitoring [Water samples from the site] Floor/desk.

Daily Temperature and humidity Monitoring

Maintain Weekly QC Issues LOG > Communicate activities in the production meetings for effective and positive change/improvement.

Consumer Complaint Logging [LANCO / ACE] and work with the Compliance Manager on completing CAPA’s - annual trending per FDA, internal objectives, and complaint reduction.

Review and verify WEEKLY inbound/outbound trailer inspections. Desk

Review Daily production records. Desk

Manage on-site Quality Alerts for non-conforming products/suppliers, and report issues to the corporate QC Team.

Manage Master Cleaning schedule activities, records for line clearance, chemicals, etc.

Ensure the facility meets the sanitation standards for FDA OTC / FOOD facilities.

Work with the OTC Regulatory Manager as needed for Label Verification and Art Proof as needed.

Shelf-life studies as needed.

Assist with R&D as needed.

Support the Food Safety and Compliance manager as needed for all audits.

Storage and organization of the scanned production documents until the FoodReady ERP is fully operational.

Participate in mock recall programs.

This position is responsible for food safety and has the authority to stop production to communicate potential food safety issues and ensure that they are investigated appropriately.
Handle Special Projects
-
Projects assigned by the Food Safety & Compliance Manager.

Adhere to all Health and Safety policies, communicating non-conformances to the plant manager and safety department.

Assist VP in all Social Audits, Sedex, Inscpecterio, Wordly or special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
-
Clear understanding and working knowledge of processes associated with Quality and Sanitation for FDA OTC or FOOD facilities.

Minimum of 3-5 years QA / QC experience in an OTC or Food Manufacturing environment

Bilingual English / Spanish heavily preferred

Solid Technical Leadership Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of analytical testing and sampling techniques.

Superior proofreading, organizational, time management, and analytical skills.

Knowledge of OTC [food product] processes and critical parameters.
