Overview
DLH is seeking a Data Analyst I to serve on a multi-disciplinary team that conducts data linkage and analysis, and reports on findings from population-based epidemiological studies on behalf of the federal government. These studies focus on the impact of military deployment and occupational and lifestyle risk factors on the health and well-being of service members, their spouses, and their dependents. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes data managers, analysts, epidemiologists, and operations staff. Responsibilities
- Use SAS statistical software, including Arrays, Macros, and Proc SQL, for data cleaning and extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
- Use SAS to merge, stack, and transform data from long to wide form, or vice versa
- Develop and implement algorithms for data analysis and reporting in collaboration with senior analysts
- Analyze trends or patterns in complex data sets, isolate anomalies, and report findings
- Design and manage the efficient organization and storage of large datasets using SAS; adhere to metadata standards
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize database performance
- Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems.
- Implement quality control processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Conduct validation checks and troubleshoot data discrepancies
- Conduct end-user training on new reports and dashboards
- Work closely with epidemiologists, biostatisticians, data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand analytical requirements
- Maintain detailed documentation of SAS code, data dictionaries, codebooks, and file structure to facilitate collaborative coding and QC
- Be proficient with version control systems like Git, GitLab/GitHub for collaborative data analysis (preferred)
Qualifications
- Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field
- 1-year minimum work experience in public health, statistics, or related field
- Strong SAS statistical software skills
