The Lead - Warehouse plays a pivotal role in coordinating work expectations within their designated distribution channel team, ensuring organizational self-delivery and maintaining quality work standards. They provide just-in-time training when needed and act as an extension of management, with clear accountability and recognition of boundaries. Their role involves facilitating communication between team members, addressing any issues that arise, and supporting the team in achieving their goals while adhering to established guidelines and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily distribution channel processes and tasks to ensure organization service delivery and quality work.
- Monitor the distribution workflow, recognizing when to shift resources.
- Serve as the primary team resource to field questions about work processes and procedures, coaching consistency in work cadence and quality.
- Hold self and team members accountable to daily schedules, including lunch and break times, notifying supervisor of any issues.
- Resolve escalated warehouse associate questions and complaints, maintaining a professional and calm demeanor.
- Promptly inform warehouse supervisor of employee conflicts and performance problems or concerns, documenting issues and/or incidents.
- Assist with hiring and training of all warehouse distributions.
- Engage in ongoing communication with warehouse supervisor to support consistent messaging.
- Act on behalf of the warehouse supervisor when absent, taking direction from the warehouse manager.
Work Environment: The work environment is an indoor warehouse and the employee is exposed to a temperature-controlled climate. The floors may be concrete, laminate or carpet in the warehouse and interior office. The employee must learn and follow safety protocols and is subject to random drug testing.
Work Hours: The work schedule is 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Start times vary. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs. The employee may be required to work overtime, holidays or weekends.
Physical and Mental Demands: Active. Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Constant use of the upper extremities is required to reach, handle and position products, materials, tools, equipment, pushing cart and computer systems. Must always wear safety vest. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force to move objects operating a forklift and/or pallet jack.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum number of 2 years’ experience in a warehouse setting
- Excellent accountability to both self- and team performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Excellent time management, including punctuality and attendance.
- Demonstrated coachability and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated process orientation, problem solving and work organization.
- Ability to coach and mentor warehouse associates.
- Ability to deescalate conflicts that arise between team members and/or other employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified to operate a forklift or completion of a forklift training program.
- Strong computer skills, utilizing multiple applications simultaneously.
- Enterprise resources planning (ERP) and warehouse management systems (WMS) experience.
- Skincare, cosmeceutical or pharmaceutical industry experience.
