PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring salary: $19/hour
THIS POSTING IS COLLECTING APPLICATIONS FOR ALL CITY OF AURORA INDOOR POOLS.
A manager or head guard will be at the pool during open swims and private parties. The Head Guard acts as management in their absence. They will be able to contact management as the need arises. The Head Guard's skills should be exemplary of the professionalism that is required & expected of all lifeguards. Head Guards must know how to handle and resolve issues that arise from various situations and accidents that occur at the pool.
Assists with training sessions of guards.
Determines guard rotation and is in charge of vigilant 10/20 scans.
Works with patrons on issues and incidents that arise at the pool.
Hourly chemical, pump room and pool check.
Checks deck and pool zones every half hour or sooner if needed based upon varying conditions.
First responder for first aid to patrons.
Initializes, coordinates and progresses the emergency action plan.
Hourly monitors pool chemistry and reports to manager.
Supervises cleanup of body fluids and fecal accidents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Education/Experience:

Equivalent training and experience that will demonstrate required knowledge, abilities and skills.
Knowledge:

Knowledge of pool safety and emergency action plans.
Abilities:

Ability to maintain a safe environment at work site.
Skills:

Skill in the life saving techniques and emergency response.
Licenses, Certificates and/or Equipment Required:
This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
Physical Demands:
Moderate physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds; frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds; regular walking and standing; regular climbing, bending, kneeling and crouching; hand/foot/eye coordination to perform appropriate rescue skills; vision to read instructions; hearing and speech communication for communication with employees and citizens.
Work Environment:
Works both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, water and other conditions found in an aquatic environment.
