Abernethy Contracting is seeking an Asphalt Machine Operator. The ideal candidate will, at a minimum, possess the ability to:
- Operate machines, including paver, roller and skid steer.
- Determine the correct placement of materials.
- Understand, meet and plan grade cross slope requirements.
- Operate machines, holding a straight line.
- Complete daily maintenance of machines, including lubrication, checking fluids such as oil, water and fuel.
- Keep machines in proper and safe working order.
- Work in a team environment safely.
- Respect and follow leadership and directions from assigned foreman.
- Treat co-workers, subcontractors and customers with respect and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb on and off heavy machinery safely.
- Ability to stand, stoop and bend for extended periods of time.
- Visual ability to see requirements of job, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear, understand speech and other sounds, including moving equipment, backing alarms and directions from supervisor/spotter.
- Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing environment.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Minimum one year of experience.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
