GENERAL SUMMARY
Exciting opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper seeking flexible hours to join our dedicated team in fulfilling an important mission to bring music and arts education to more students across the country. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with a preference for nonprofit experience. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries using QuickBooks Online.
- Record and classify financial transactions, including income, expenses, and other financial activities in accordance with accounting principles and nonprofit regulations.
- Ensure proper classification and coding of transactions, including expense allocations to various classes.
- Manual download and upload of payroll entries into QuickBooks Online from payroll application.
- Export transactions from CRM and Bill.com to QuickBooks Online.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements with general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy. Reconcile CRM revenue reports with general ledger accounts. Resolve discrepancies.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly. Monitor accounts payables to ensure timely payments.
- Assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Generate financial reports on a regular basis for internal analysis and external reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax preparers as necessary.
- Prepare and generate 1099 forms for contractors accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to IRS guidelines and regulations.
- Review/implement finance policies that are in line with best practices. Implement procedures for secure recordkeeping.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and QuickBooks Online.
- Strong financial and account reporting skills.
- Highly organized, detail driven.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Certification such as CPA or Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP).
HOURS AND SALARY
- Approximately 10-20 hours per week, with fluctuation seasonally
- $25-30/hour depending on experience
