Job Overview:
The executive chef attracts and retains staff, maintains a cooperative relationship with team members, optimizes staff productivity and serves as a replacement in team members' absence. You will train staff to use new recipes, cooking techniques, and equipment and oversee cooks performing food preparation. In addition, you will oversee the delivery of food supplies, prepare unique dishes, and supervise overall kitchen operations during dinner service.
Reporting:
This position reports directly to the general manager and owner while working closely with all BOH staff and FOH management. All back-of-house staff will report directly to the executive chef.
Compensation:
This is a full-time, salaried position as agreed upon at the date of hire.
Vacation:
One week of paid vacation per year is available after 6 months of continuous employment. After 1 year of continuous employment an additional week is accrued. For each year after, a maximum of 2 weeks of prorated paid vacation per year is available for use.
Paid Time Off (PTO):
3 PTO days per year are available after 6 months of continuous employment. PTO does not carry forward into the next year. Days unused will be compensated based on agreed salary.
Benefits:
Health insurance and IRA plans are available through an individual policy after 60 days and 1 year, respectively, of employment.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Ensuring promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes.
- Designing new recipes, planning menus, and selecting plate presentations
- Coordinating cooks' tasks, such as prep work and line placement
- Implementing hygiene policies and examining equipment for cleanliness.
- Reviewing staffing levels to meet service, operational and financial objectives.
- Hiring, training, and scheduling back-of-house staff
- Taking stock of food and equipment supplies, and doing purchase orders.
- Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff.
- Obtaining feedback on food quality and handling customer problems and complaints
- Perform other duties as assigned by the general manager or ownership
Requirements:
- 2+ years of culinary education.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar position.
- Advanced knowledge of food professional principles and practices.
- Excellent understanding of BOH systems, ordering, and inventory.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays.
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be on your feet and mobile for duration of your shift
- Ability to lift/carry objects up to 50lbs

Pay: $67,500.00 - $77,500.00 per year
