Fulltime Firefighter/Paramedic
The Southwick Fire Department is accepting applications for three full time Firefighter Paramedics with an anticipated hire date after July 1, 2024, dependent upon approved funding.
Requirements: HS diploma or equivalent, valid MA driver’s license, possess and maintain Massachusetts Paramedic certification. Active 911 Paramedic experience preferred.
Consideration given for applicants currently enrolled in an accredited paramedic program. Applicant shall be required to complete paramedic certification within 30 months of hire. All applicants are required to complete Recruit Firefighter l/ll Certification Training at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy within 30 months of hire if not previously completed. Consideration given for previous Firefighter l/ll certification and or experience.
Finalists will be required to complete a medical examination, drug screening, CORI, an extensive background check including physiological test, and other assessments as deemed necessary. Successful candidates shall be required to pass the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Firefighter Physical Abilities Test (PAT) prior to start of work.
Upon appointment, and completion of the onboarding process, the standard tour of duty will be a rotating schedule of 24 hours on, followed by 48 hours off, followed by 24 hours on, and followed by 96 hours off.
Starting salary $28.46 to $31.37 per hour with additional step increases, educational incentives, and heath care and benefits package.
